Petition to Tackle Rampant Fly-Tipping Across Quinton — Mobile Tip Days, Enforcement Cameras, Investigations & Regular Clear-Ups

Fly-tipping across Quinton has reached unacceptable levels. Sofas, tyres, building rubble, black bags and household waste are being dumped on our streets, green spaces, and alleyways — blighting our community, harming wildlife, and costing every taxpayer. Enough is enough.
Quinton residents are being let down. Illegal dumping is happening with alarming regularity across the ward — on residential streets, in open spaces, behind shops, and along back lanes. Despite repeated reports, the same sites are repeatedly targeted and cleared only after long delays, with no meaningful deterrent to prevent the same offenders returning. This is not just an eyesore — it is a public health hazard. Decomposing waste attracts vermin, contaminates land, and poses serious risks to children, pets, and the elderly. It also sends a message that our community is not valued, which is simply unacceptable. As your ward councillor, I am committed to cleaning up Quinton and holding those responsible to account. We are calling on Birmingham City Council, Birmingham City Council Waste & Recycling, and West Midlands Police to take immediate, sustained action. We call for: a mobile community waste tip service visiting Quinton streets at least once a month, enabling residents to legally dispose of bulky items free of charge; the deployment of mobile enforcement cameras at known fly-tipping hotspots to capture offenders and gather evidence for prosecution; rigorous investigation and prosecution of repeat fly-tippers, with fines and penalties fully enforced; regular, scheduled clean-up operations at persistent problem sites across the ward; better co-ordination between the Council, housing associations, and enforcement agencies to share intelligence and respond faster; and a public reporting mechanism that keeps residents informed when an investigation is under way and when action has been taken. Every resident deserves to live in a clean, safe neighbourhood. Fly-tipping is a criminal offence — and it is time it was treated like one.
