Petition to Protect Birmingham's Green Spaces from Unauthorised Encampments

We call on Birmingham City Council and the relevant authorities to take urgent and decisive action to protect Birmingham's green spaces from unauthorised encampments and ensure these vital community assets are preserved for residents to enjoy.
Green spaces across Birmingham, including those in Quinton Ward, are under increasing pressure from unauthorised encampments. These sites are vital for the health, wellbeing, and recreation of local residents — families, children, elderly people, and those who depend on open spaces for exercise and community connection. Unauthorised encampments can cause damage to green infrastructure, leave behind significant litter and waste, restrict public access, and create safety concerns for local communities. We call on Birmingham City Council and the relevant authorities to enforce existing legislation promptly and effectively; protect all public green spaces from unauthorised use; ensure swift and thorough clean-up operations following any encampments; work proactively with partner agencies to prevent repeat incidents; and keep local residents informed when action is being taken. Every resident in Quinton and across Birmingham deserves clean, safe, and accessible green spaces. We urge the Council to act decisively to protect them.
