Reopen and Protect The Hub & Café, 1 Faraday Avenue, Quinton, B32 1JP
Reopen and Protect The Hub & Café, 1 Faraday Avenue, Quinton, B32 1JP
We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Quinton, call upon Birmingham City Council to take urgent action following the closure of The Hub & Café, 1 Faraday Avenue, Quinton.
The Hub has provided an important community service to Quinton residents, including affordable and subsidised meals, teas and coffees, informal welfare support, companionship for people experiencing isolation, and access to an emergency food larder for residents facing food insecurity.
The Hub was also recognised by Birmingham City Council as a Quinton Warm Space, providing a welcoming place for residents affected by cost-of-living pressures, cold homes and social isolation.
Its closure has therefore created a significant gap in local community provision, particularly for vulnerable and isolated residents who benefited from accessible, face-to-face support.
We therefore petition Birmingham City Council to:
Urgently review the circumstances surrounding the closure of The Hub & Café.
Engage with the charity, former volunteers, local residents and other relevant stakeholders to explore every reasonable option for restoring the service.
Identify what practical support the Council can lawfully provide to facilitate the reopening or restoration of The Hub as a community facility.
Provide a clear response explaining what action can be taken to protect this important community provision in Quinton.
As the elected Councillor for Quinton, I am presenting this petition so that residents' concerns are formally heard and all reasonable avenues for restoring this valued community service are properly explored.
Please sign below if you support efforts to restore The Hub & Café for the Quinton community.
